The Three Cities

When the knights arrived in Malta in 1530 they made their home in Vittoriosa and started to build their auberges and defenses. The protected  harbour was a perfect haven for their ships and galleys.By 1550 Senglea had been fortified and Cospicua was booming as a market town.

It was from these maritime towns that the knights defended Malta from the marauding Turks during the Great Seige of 1565.

Wandering around the winding streets under imposing bastions you take a step back in time. There are many historical sites, amoung them Fort St Angelo,  Inquistidors Palace, Maritime Museum, Malta at War Museum and numerous Churches.

The area has benefited from recent  investment both foreign and local and now boasts a world class Yacht Marina and Casino. Rejuvenation projects continue and top class bars and restaurants are mushrooming.

Nearby there are many tourist attractions making the South of Malta a strategic place to base your holiday.

Fort Rinella, several Neolithic Sites including the Tarxien Temples, the beach resort of Marsascala and the charming fishing village and market of Marsaslokk.

Valletta is a short ferry ride across the harbour and Sliema also accessible by boat.

Harbour cruises are available.

The airport is only 10 minutes and the area is well served by buses and taxis.
